Shourya's POV
"Mr. Shourya?" I heard from the backside just as I completed answering the question that Hr asked me.
I turned around and there stood a woman in a black suit. She is beautiful and the way she was looking at us screamed power.
"Miss. Aadhya," the HRs greeted, and she shifted her eyes from me to them. She just nodded at them and started walking towards us.
She is walking gracefully, holding her head high proudly. Her aura is so powerful and intimidating.
My eyes moved along with her as she reached the desk and leaned on it elegantly.
I just stared at her without even reacting. Her eyes are enormous, looking sharply at me. It was hard to read her expression.
"You are selected," she stated.
Really? I wanted to ask, but she just walked away after saying that. I looked at the HR people and they congratulated me.
"Congratulations, Mr. Shourya."
"Thank you," I replied to them.
"It's the first time Miss. Aadhya selected someone personally," one of the Hr's commented.
"Yeah, I only saw her firing 22 assistants in 2 years, but it's the first time she selected someone," another one replied.
Did she really fired 22 assistants?
"Anyway, congratulations again, Mr Shourya. You can start working from this Monday. Come tomorrow and complete the formalities and take your login id and your Id card."
"Enjoy your weekend as I don't think you will get more time to enjoy after getting into the work," they said, and I nodded. Then they all walked out, leaving me there.
I picked up my file from the table and walked out.
"Yesss," I squealed as I came out of the office.
"Sorry, sorry," I muttered when people on the road looked at me weirdly.
I never thought I would get a job in this much big company that too in a personal assistant post. I need to prepare myself to work under Miss. Aadhya.
I called my best friend, Arun, to share my happiness.
He is the only friend I have and he is working as an ethical hacker in an MNC.
"Arun, I got the job," I yelled as soon as he picked up the call.
"Slowly, Shourya, are you planning to make me deaf?" Arun hissed.
"I was excited," I commented.
"Congratulations," he said, meeting my excitement.
"Now, you can come out from that toxic house," he sighed.
"No, Arun, I can't come out until Manvi enters university," I replied.
We talked for some time while I got on a bus and reached my neighborhood. I bought some sweets at a sweet shop on the way home.
I knocked on the door as I reached the house. Manvi opened the door and smiled as she saw me.
"Bhai (Brother), you got the job?" she asked as I entered.
"Yes," I smiled.
"Congratulations, bhai," she squealed and hugged me and I patted her head.
She left me when we heard a throat clearing sound from my aunt. I glanced at my aunt and Tanvi, who just got there.
I opened the sweet box and forwarded it to her, saying, "Aunt, I got the job in Golden leaf company."
But instead of taking the sweet, she just gazed at the sweet box, then me, before speaking.
"Don't celebrate too early," she said mockingly and walked away. Tanvi scoffed and left with her mom.
And just like that, my smile dropped.
My aunt was always like this. She never liked me.
My mom died when I was 10 with heart disease. About my father, I don't know anything about him. My mother was the only one who raised me. After her death, I thought everything was over, but my uncle came and took me to his home. He is my mother's brother.
But his wife, my aunt, was not happy with his decision. She told him to join me back in the orphanage or leave me somewhere, but he didn't accept her, so she never liked me and used to beat me.
Still, I am thankful to her, at least she gave me food. I saw many orphan children of my age starving to death. Compared to them, I am lucky as I got food, clothes and shelter.
Tanvi is my aunt's elder daughter who is the same age as me and Manvi is her younger daughter who is 4 years younger than me.
Uncle and Manvi are so kind and love me while aunt and Tanvi always mock me and never liked me.
"Bhai, don't feel bad. You know she is always like that, leave about her," Manvi tried to comfort me and I smiled a little as I don't want to disappoint her.
I am 23 but didn't move out even though they are torturing me, for the sake of Manvi. She is so sweet to me and because she likes me, her mom scolds her always.
If I leave, she will be alone with these toxic people, so I am waiting for her to enter university so that she leaves for her hostel and I can move out peacefully.
"Here, have some sweet," she said, putting sweet in front of my mouth.
I opened my mouth, and she fed me sweet, then I also fed some to her.
"Bhai, this is delicious, I will have it," she took the box.
"All of it?" I tried to tease her.
"Yes," she said and ran with the sweet box. I smiled and went to my room.
This room was actually a store room but I cleaned it and made it my room. It was small with only a bed and cupboard without extra space. Attached bath is still a dream to me because we are middle class people and we need to adjust and don't forget the fact that I am practically an orphan so I need to adjust and compromise more to live a normal life.
"Mom, I got the job," I said to my mom's picture while sitting on my small bed.
My mom was really beautiful and so kind. She was always soft-spoken and gentle. I don't remember her yelling at me, not even once. She taught me to always smile, even in tough situations.
"Shourya," I heard my aunt's yelling, and I rushed to the living room.
"What is it, aunt?" I asked.
"It's 12pm. When are you going to make lunch? Do you want us to starve?" she yelled.
I have to cook whenever I am at home. I always cook breakfast before going to college and clean the house. Then after coming home at night, I need to cook dinner too. And whenever I get holidays, I need to prepare lunch too.
I can decline if they are my own people, but they aren't, so I can't say anything to her. I am like a slave in this house still I don't mind.
"Yes, aunt, I will prepare it now," I muttered and went to the kitchen.
"I will cut vegetables," Manvi took the knife from me and started cutting vegetables while I put rice in the cooker. Then I prepared curry and sambar with the help of Manvi.
She always helps me in cooking or any other work that her mom assigned to me. For me, Manvi is like my own little sister.
After that we had lunch, then Manvi and I cleaned the table and did the dishes.
Time flew just like that, and soon it's dinner time. Manvi and I prepared chepathi and potato curry.
"Congratulations, Shourya, for getting the job," my uncle said, and I glanced at him with a smile.
"Manvi told me," He added.
"What is this? You want to kill me?" aunt yelled after eating the first piece.
"What happened, aunt?" I asked immediately.
"You put too much salt in the curry," she roared.
I ate a piece of chepathi with curry, and it's not salty.
"Don't make drama here, Maala, it's not that salty," uncle said, raising his voice a bit.
"No, it's salty," she argued.
"If you don't like what he cooks, then cook your own food," he remarked.
These are all normal things for me, and I am used to her yelling. I don't feel too bad about her remarks because I don't take them to heart and l really don't care.
.
.
.
It's Monday. I woke up early and completed my morning business and got ready for the office wearing a white shirt with black trousers.
I made breakfast and completed the house chores before leaving the house.
If I don't work then Manvi has to do it cause my aunt doesn't do any chores and she is always out. She is addicted to gambling as well.
Tanvi, she is my aunt's dear daughter so she won't do either.
I took a bus and reached the office.
"All the best, Shourya. You can do it," I said to myself and entered the office.
Reception lady told me to go to the top floor after I showed her my Id.
I entered the elevator and pressed 35 to go to the top floor. My heart is beating too fast as it's my first day and all I heard was Miss. Aadhya is very strict. Being her assistant will be the last thing one could ask for.
Keeping all my tensions aside, I step out of the elevator.
"Who are you?" a security guard who was sitting at the table near the elevator, asked.
"I am a new employee here," I replied and showed him my Id card.
He inspected it then called someone with his land phone and after talking with that person, he allowed me in.
I walked in looking around, not knowing whom to meet to know about my work.
Everybody's eyes are buried on the computer screen. They are working like robots, silently.
"Mr. Shourya?" a girl asked me as I was walking in aimlessly, looking around in a daze.
"Yes," I replied.
"Hi, I am Kavya," she introduced herself, forwarding her hand for a handshake.
"Hello," I shook her hand.
"Come, I will show you your cabin and explain you about your work," she said, and I nodded.
"This is your cabin," she said before opening the door of my office.
"And that's mine," she said, pointing at a room beside mine.
She opened the door, and we both walked in.
"Check your login's," she said, and I sat on the chair, then switched on the computer to check my logins.
"It's fine," I replied after logging in successfully.
She then explained my work, and that's a lot, really a lot. She said she will support me until I get used to the work.
"Now, come, I will take you to greet madam," she said and my heart started thumping again.
"O... ok," I replied and stood up then we both walked out.
"There was a fridge for water and there was also a coffee machine," she said pointing at the area not far away and I nodded
"Just remember, Madam likes her coffee with one spoon sugar."
"And this is Miss. Aadhya's office," she informed.
So, Miss. Aadhya's office is adjacent to mine.
She knocked on the door and we heard a faint come-in. Then Kavya opened the door and walked in while I followed her in.
Miss Aadhya was sitting on the boss chair like a queen, reading a file. Her big eyes are focused on the file while her fingers hold a pen moving on the paper, marking something.
"Madam," Kavya called.

Hey folks💗
Did you like that chapter?? Tell me in comments 💬 🥰
So, He is our male lead... Do you like him?
I know, It is odd to read a male lead who was tortured by his aunt and still living with them but let me tell you, it's not really odd. Not only females but males also go through this sh*t if it's not his own family.
Not every man is a rich, powerful, arrogant CEO.
Aren't you proud of your author for breaking stereotypes? (just kidding.) 👻
Here roles are reversed: He can be our sunshine while she was grumpy... 😄
Aren't you excited for them?
Love you all ❤
